Teachers stand out among the working population as an occupation with
the highest work-related musculoskeletal pain rates.
Kids too , face musculoskeletal problems during school life which can be easily prevented.
It is a joy to teach , but it comes with its own set of difficulties.
Prolonged sitting or standing, improper posture, anxiety level, high job demand/workload, tasks which involve use of a 'head down' posture, such as frequent reading, marking of assignments, and writing on a blackboard have all contributed to a prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in neck, upper and lower back and upper limbs of teachers.
The emphasis has always been on education and rightly so. But the health of our educators has been neglected for far too long.
The Healthy Classroom workshop was developed to teach teachers to prevent and manage work related musculoskeletal pain through classroom ergonomics and exercise.
School Children are not immune to musculoskeletal pain as they face similar postural stressors to teachers. Classroom ergonomics help in creating an environment that encourages learning without the physical stress.
The Healthy Classroom workshop will give an invaluable insight to education providers about the musculoskeletal problems faced by children, causative factors, ergonomics and techniques to combat them.
The Optimising Wellbeing workshops delve into the important topic of managing and preventing work related musculoskeletal pain among teachers and their students We aim to equip education providers with valuable knowledge and practical strategies to promote a healthy and pain-free work environment for teachers and kids.
